The Faraglioni

The Eternal Guardians of Capri

Close your eyes and think of Capri. The image that always comes to mind is the same: three limestone towers rising from the sea like silent giants, shaped by millennia of waves and wind. The Faraglioni aren't just the island's icon, they are its soul. No film still, no magazine cover has ever stopped searching for them. Yet, not even the most perfect photograph can convey the feeling of actually seeing them for the first time, in person, from up there, with the scent of maritime pine in the air and the sea burning blue beneath your feet.


The three guardians:

The Faraglioni are three rock formations located to the southeast of the island, each with its own name and personality. The first, Stella, is the closest to the coast, rising to an imposing 109 meters. The second, Faraglione di Mezzo, houses a natural arch accessible by boat, a window overlooking the sea. The third, Scopolo (or Faraglione di Fuori, 104 meters), is the most mysterious and beloved by naturalists: it is the exclusive home of the Capri Blue Lizard (Podarcis sicula coerulea), a small reptile that over the centuries has adopted the colors of the sky and sea to camouflage itself, as if it too wanted to become an integral part of this landscape.

The route from Casa Leucosia The beauty of the Faraglioni is best enjoyed with one of the most romantic walks in Italy: the journey along the famous Via Tragara, the tree-lined avenue that begins in the center of Capri and gently slopes toward the Punta Tragara viewpoint. Starting from Casa Leucosia, in the heart of the island, you take the road, cross the glittering Via Camerelle with its luxury boutiques, and without a moment's hesitation, you reach the most photographed view on the island.

From the Punta Tragara lookout point, the view is breathtaking: the three Faraglioni rocks stand out in the sea like a living postcard, with boats silently sailing around them and the breeze carrying all the scents of the Mediterranean. If you want to walk down to the base, a scenic path leads to the two legendary beach clubs, La Fontelina and Da Luigi, where swimming with the Faraglioni as a backdrop is an experience impossible to describe (and unforgettable). Reservations are essential in high season.

For those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, La Terrazza Brunella, also on Via Tragara, offers authentic Caprese cuisine with the same breathtaking view at more affordable prices.
