Natural Arch
The stone gateway to infinity
In Capri, nature can create things that no architect in the world could ever imagine. The Natural Arch is the most majestic proof of this: a 12-metre-wide limestone bridge, suspended 18 metres above the sea, shaped by millennia of erosion. It is not a man-made monument – it is the sculpture that the Tyrrhenian Sea has carved from the island’s living rock, opening a window onto the turquoise sky above the cliff
The route from Casa Leucosia
From here, take Via Matermania and set off along one of the island’s most picturesque paths. The Mediterranean scrub takes over, and the scent of myrtle and broom accompanies every step.

- Walking time: 25–35 minutes uphill, 20 minutes downhill
- Difficulty: moderate, suitable for everyone wearing comfortable shoes
What to expect
At the Arch, the view is simply breathtaking: the rock frames the sea like a natural picture frame, with shades ranging from turquoise to deep blue. Not far away is the Grotta di Matermania, an ancient sacred cave transformed by the Romans into a nymphaeum – a detour that is well worth the visit.

Le Grottelle
Just a short walk from the Arch, literally carved into the rock face, lies one of the island’s most authentic restaurants: Le Grottelle (Via Arco Naturale). Authentic Capri cuisine, with a panoramic terrace overlooking Punta Campanella and the Amalfi Coast. Open for lunch and dinner, closed on Tuesdays. Booking is recommended.
